attached you can find the second circular of the "7th EUropean Congress on REgional GEOscientific Cartography and Information Systems - EUREGEO" that will be held in Bologna (Italy) from 12th to 15th June 2012. Under the subheading Sustainable Geo-Management, the Congress will focus on the contribution that Earth Sciences should make to ensure that the quality of growth in the future leads to a sustainable future.
We would remind you that the deadline for submission of abstract for the 7th EUREGEO is coming soon. We invite you to submit your contribution using the provided template and forward it to euregeo2012@regione.emilia-romagna.it not later than 31st January 2012.
We look forward to having your scientific contribution in the 10 sessions in programme:
- Slope instability
- Soil and planning
- Subsurface geology (geothermal energy, CCS, 3D modelling)
- Popularisation of geoscience and geoheritage
- Coastal system management
- Water resources
- Urban geology
- Mining and natural aggregates resources
- Seismic risk
- Regional geochemical mapping and its environmental application
Three special sessions, with invited speakers, are also being organized to focus in detail on the INSPIRE Directive and on the themes of "Soil: sealing and consumption" and "Natural resources and hazards in the Mediterranean".
In parallel sessions, the Congress will host the following events:
- EuroGeoSurveys National Delegates Forum
- GIT (Geology and Information Technology) Annual Meeting - Geological Society of Italy
- Local forum of the European project Geo.Power
Moreover, two field trips are proposed on Saturday 16th June. Participants could visit the Secchia Valley (Reggio Emilia) for deepening on landslide risk reduction strategy or the Po river Delta to discuss about hydrogeological assets of the deltaic plain, the soil and the paleogeographic evolution.
