OneGeology Europe
The OneGeology-Europe project develops an integrated system of data to create and make accessible for the first time through the internet the geological map of the whole of Europe. The elaboration of several data sets owned by the national European geological survey is carried out in accordance with the requirements of INSPIRE (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe), the recent European Directive which sets guidelines for the elaboration of territorial data. Since geological data are elaborated differently from country to country, they are difficult to share. OneGeology-Europe, while providing more detailed and complete information, will foster even beyond the geological community an easier exchange of data within Europe and globally.

ERA-NET
The European Research Area has as its core message the need to overcome the traditional fragmentation of research efforts in the EU through better coordination and cooperation. In this regard, the recently launched Sixth Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP6) introduced a specific programme "Integrating and Strengthening the European Research Area" from which a new initiative - the ERA-NET Scheme - will be financed. The ERA-NET Scheme is about the coordination and cooperation of national and regional programmes and as such, it aims at the national and regional programme makers and managers. These are, in most countries, either working in the Ministries or working in national funding agencies, which implement programmes on behalf of their governments. The ERA-NET Scheme will be implemented via an Open Call for proposals, welcoming proposals for coordination actions in any field of science and technology i.e. using a bottom-up approach.
