Geological Survey of Ireland (GSI)
George Victor Du Noyer, who served as a geologist with the Geological Survey of Ireland (GSI) from 1847 to 1869, was a skilled field artist whose numerous sketches and pictures, with their combination of artistic skill and technical accuracy, were the “field photographs” of their day. The “Du Noyer Geological Photography Competition” is organized each year by the Geological Survey of Ireland. It seeks to encourage the same blend of artistic and scientific skills through the medium of photography.

Polish Geological Institute (PGI)
The gallery of photos Geological landscapes of the Vistula River was organized by the Polish Geological Institute (PGI) in 2005 as a street exhibition. This selection of photograms shows the contemporary landscapes of the Vistula river seen from various perspectives: satellite images, air photographs, photos taken from the river banks and from the running water. All of them illustrate the beauty and diversity of landscape features along the river valley, shaped both by the geological processes, over the last 2 millions years, and by human activity. This was the second such exhibition – in 2004 a gallery of air images of Poland entitled GEA means the Earth, was exhibited. Following the exhibition a photography competition, open to wide public was held.
