Two years after the SDIMI conference that took place in 2009 in Gold Coast, Australia, the Institute of Mining Engineering 1 of the RWTH Aachen University is pleased to announce the next conference. SDMI 2011 is the 5th in a series of international conferences dedicated to the issue of sustainable development in the minerals industry world wide. This conference series is jointly organized by RWTH Aachen University (Germany), Virginia Tech University (USA) and the Technical University of Crete (Greece). The purpose of the SDMI conference series is best captured in the "Milos Declaration", that has been adopted at the first SDIMI conference held on the island of Milos, Greece, in 2003 and which has been endorsed by leading global professinals and scientific organizations axµctive in the sector.
